Outside of school and my professional life, I love sewing and prop-making. Ever since my friend introduced me to cosplay, the practice of dressing up as a character from books, movies, video games, or other forms of media, I have fallen in love with the art and have been making my own cosplays for around 6 years now which includes wig styling, pattern-making, sewing, and EVA foam and Worbla modeling and sculpting all by hand. Recently, I have begun making cosplays for my friends as well. This hobby not only allows me to express my creativity, but it also allows me to harness my problem-solving abilities by figuring out how to replicate a piece of clothing or item on a character and conform it to myself.
Despite my majors being in completely different fields, I have been working in home health for around 6 years. At Sevita, I have helped 3 mentally and physically disabled women in their homes with meal prep, taking their medication, and basic hygiene for 4 years. I have developed a very good relationship with the women at the home, and it was a very rewarding experience. Since Sevita, I have worked in a psych hospital for a year and then a senior live-in for another year before studying abroad. Both have strengthened my ability to empathize with others, harness my social skills, and create a more compassionate environment.

Another hobby that I devote much of my free time to is playing the piano and the autoharp. I have been playing piano off and on for about 6 years and have been playing the autoharp for about 3 years. I also transcribe music for myself and my sister, who plays the clarinet, bass guitar, and the autoharp. I transcribe music in a music notation software called MuseScore. Transcribing music involves listening to a song and figuring out the correct notes and rhythm of the music by ear and writing it down in the program. Depending on the length and complexity of each song, my transcriptions can take anywhere from 10 to 50+ hours of notation. I have transcribed 11 full-length songs and a medley of 13 songs that took me about 1.5 years to complete! Though practicing and notating music is a very tedious process, it is very rewarding when it turns out exactly the way you want it to. Below are some samples of my work. All of my transcriptions are available for free on Musescore’s online platform and on Youtube.
